Building

Not our projects. Not promises. People already building.

The point is not to say every model is perfect. It is to pay attention to people who stopped waiting for the complete answer and started creating another choice.

Leimert Park Village · Los Angeles

Leimert Park “Africatown”

The African Village Vendors Association organizes and supports Black-owned vendors in the historic Leimert Park Village area. The work is physical and present: vendors, place, culture, commerce, and community control are not abstract ideas.

Who gets to organize the space? Who brings the vendors? Who captures the economic activity created there?

Freedom Acres Ranch

The Mallery family built a veteran-owned, family-operated ranch around food access, livestock, regenerative practices, community service, and education. Its public work includes direct farm-to-table sales, EBT acceptance, food-insecurity support, and agricultural learning for young people.

This is not a speech about food independence. It is land, production, food, education, and community access being attempted in real time.
