Participate in Agency Project 004 ยท Sustainable Essex Alliance, New Jersey

Sustainable Essex residents deserve a clear update on what comes next.

The Alliance's second electricity contract expired in September 2022, and another award was not made after the May 2022 bids. Residents can help bring the continuing market review, decision standards, and path toward any future round into public view.

Participation is open

Residents across Sustainable Essex communities can ask questions, share records, and help define the priorities for any future round.

What residents already know

The earlier program ended. The public conversation should continue.

A clear account of the monitoring work and the conditions that could trigger another procurement would help residents understand the choices ahead.

01

When was the market last tested or formally reviewed?

02

What price, savings, and renewable-content standards govern a new bid?

03

When will residents receive the next public update?

What Sustainable Essex can do now

Turn years of monitoring into a clear public update.

The Round Two closeout, May 2022 bid record, later market reviews, consultant reports, meeting records, and standards for a third round can give every member community the same information.

Residents

Define priorities

Price, renewable content, consumer protection, and the timing of a possible new round.

Community next step

Residents can bring the records into public view.

On July 18, 2026, Radical Market Studio published this project and contacted the program administrator, a community organization, and Maplewood's records custodians. The program and community messages were sent; the municipal mail filter rejected the records request, leaving a direct public route for local residents and organizations.

Local action available

Request the records directly

A resident or participating local organization can use Maplewood's official OPRA instructions and online form. Request electronic records from May 1, 2022 forward concerning monitoring, evaluation, procurement, or planning for a third Sustainable Essex Alliance round, and require an estimate before authorizing costs.

The opportunity remains open: the research, public page, and first outreach are in place for any Sustainable Essex community that wants to carry it forward.
